One year ago, the Eagle Mountain football team took the field for the first time ever at Knight Stadium. Now, with year one under their belt and a locker room full of belief, they’re back — stronger, smarter, and ready for a new season.
The Eagle Mountain Knights shocked North Texas when in their first season together and being in a varsity schedule for the first year went to the playoffs, even with 0 seniors. The Knights went 3-8 overall in their first season.
During my interview with football Head Coach Mullins he explains what their “Unity Council” is, which is a peer elected group of players that not only lead on the field, but in the locker rooms and school hallways, etc. Some of the members of this council include quarterback Coltyn Williams, wide receiver Avon Bolin, and running back Terry Starks. Mullins explains these guys as “some guys who have certainly matured in the last few months” and that they are “stepping into that leadership role that you look for in a senior.”
The Unity Council has come up with this year’s slogan, “One Heartbeat.”
When Mullins was asked about offensive and defensive identity for this upcoming 2025 season for the Knights he explained, “to be really successful you got to be able to run the football and stop the run.” He also goes on to say being able to put the ball in the air is a main contender in creating a successful season.
More key points Mullins adds to the conversation of creating wins for going deeper into the postseason is being healthy, getting a good start, and becoming a unit that prioritizes the brotherhood that Eagle Mountain football team has become.
