GRANBURY, Texas — Granbury will open District 3-5A play Friday when the Pirates host Birdville at Johnny Perkins Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Pirates enter 1-1 after a difficult 41-8 home loss to Waco University last week, a game in which Granbury was undone by four turnovers. Birdville is also 1-1 after falling 24-21 to Grapevine last Thursday. The Hawks are led by quarterback Zack Wells.
Fans can follow the action on KHITS 95.5, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. Clayton Neville will provide play-by-play and John Hampton will add commentary.
District 5-5A play also begins Tuesday for Lady Pirates volleyball. Granbury will host Saginaw in its opener before facing Saginaw Chisholm Trail at home Friday. The Lady Pirates wrapped up non-district play at 14-17.
On the cross country course, senior Gannon Dolan has been perfect this season, winning all three of his races. He claimed the individual title last week at Godley.
