The Aledo Bearcats remain a powerhouse in Texas high school football—winners of 12 state titles and widely regarded as one of the most dominant programs in the state’s history. At Aledo, it’s not just about making a championship run, it’s about winning it all. The 2025 season is no exception. With a roster stacked with talent and led by standout head coach Robby Jones, the Bearcats once again have their sights set on title number 13.
Offensively, Aledo boasts firepower across the board, headlined by 4-star wide receiver and Notre Dame commit Kaydon Finley, who’s looking to cap off his senior year with a standout season. The quarterback position is still up for grabs, with a fierce competition between junior Nash McElree and senior Lincoln Tubbs. Both bring different strengths to the field, and there’s a strong possibility both will see playing time. Tubbs, in particular, is a versatile athlete who could also contribute as a wideout if McElree takes the reins under center.
On the defensive side, the Bearcats return a wealth of experience like Senior Linebacker Chase Wilburn, and their whole defensive front. All four starting defensive linemen are back, including senior Decker Sanders and junior Tymon Meeks, who has recently drawn attention from programs like Miami and the University of Colorado.
When asked about the team’s mindset going into the season, Coach Jones was clear: “unfinished business.” After coming up short last year, the Bearcats are entering 2025 with a chip on their shoulder and, as Jones put it, “a sour taste in our mouth.” He reflected on the program’s high standards, saying that after winning so many championships, “you remember the ones you lose more than the ones you win.” For Aledo, winning isn’t just a goal, it’s the expectation. And they plan to meet it once again this year.
