CLEBURNE, Texas — The 2025 football season begins Friday for the Yellow Jackets with the debut of head coach A.J. Shepherd.
Shepherd takes over after serving as defensive coordinator at Mansfield Lake Ridge. Cleburne wrapped up fall camp with a scrimmage against Everman, which was moved from Thursday to Friday because of heavy weather.
The season opener is set for 7 p.m. Friday at the Rock Pile against Corsicana. Both teams are looking to rebound after difficult 2024 campaigns.
In volleyball, the Lady Jackets finished play this past weekend at the Justin Northwest ISD tournament, a full slate of matches to start the season. Cleburne will host Alvarado on Tuesday before traveling to the Grapevine-Colleyville tournament, which begins Thursday.
Cleburne’s cross country teams are scheduled to run Friday in Burleson.
