MILDRED, Texas — The 2025 football season begins Friday for the Eagles, who are looking to build on last year’s playoff run.

Head coach Jeff Callahan’s program finished 12-1 in 2024 and reached the Class 2A Division I regional semifinals. Mildred will open at home against Iola with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Eagles won last year’s meeting 26-0, one of six games in which they allowed one score or less.

Junior quarterback Luke McKendree and junior running back Trent Harris return with a year of varsity experience as they lead the offense.

In volleyball, the Lady Eagles are 12-4 entering their third week of competition. They played Tuesday at Teague and will compete in the Kerens tournament Thursday and Saturday. District play begins next month.

Mildred cross country is scheduled to run Friday in Azle.
