BRIDGEPORT, Texas — It was a tough start to the 2025 season for the Bulls, who fell 42-7 at home Friday to a strong City View team from Wichita Falls.

The Mustangs wasted no time, racing to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter and holding a 28-0 advantage at halftime. They shifted into game management mode in the second half, while Bridgeport avoided the shutout with a fourth-quarter touchdown.

City View, a nine-win team in 2024 that advanced two rounds in the playoffs, showed why it remains a program to watch.

Bridgeport will look to rebound Friday when it travels to Bowie for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Jackrabbits dropped their opener to Callisburg, 29-21.

In volleyball, head coach Chris Rudiger’s team competed in the Callisburg tournament over the weekend and picked up four wins. The Sissies will host Valley View on Tuesday.

On the cross country course, Bridgeport senior Xxavier Garza claimed the boys individual championship at the Azle meet Friday.
