FORT WORTH, Texas — All Saints pulled off a dramatic season-opening victory Friday night in Dallas, rallying late to defeat Parish Episcopal 24-21.
Trailing by a touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Saints tied the game on a strike from quarterback Gavin Beard to Hattan French with 1:46 remaining. The defense then delivered with a strip-sack fumble deep in Parish Episcopal territory, setting up freshman kicker Carver Johnston’s game-winning field goal with three seconds left.
The win gave All Saints an early boost in its bid to defend the TAPPS Division II state championship.
The Saints’ road swing on the eastern side of the Metroplex continues Friday with a trip to Plano to face Prestonwood Academy. It will be the season opener for the Lions. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
In volleyball, the Lady Saints spent the weekend competing at the KSA Invitational in Hawaii, which ran from Thursday through Saturday. They will take a week off before resuming play Sept. 9.
