PARADISE, Texas — That’s the way all debuts should look.

In his first game as Paradise head football coach, Tommy Koch guided the No. 2 Panthers to a 71-0 rout of Gainesville on Friday night. The Panthers rolled up more than 400 yards of offense while holding the Leopards to just 27.

The performance wasn’t out of character for Paradise, which topped 60 points three times during the 2023 season.

Paradise will be back on the road Friday with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Godley. The Wildcats enter 0-1.

In volleyball, the Lady Panthers began the week 18-7 after winning the Godley tournament last weekend under first-year head coach Cali Springer. Tournament play is now complete for the season. Paradise hosted Eagle Mountain on Tuesday and will host Nocona on Friday.

On the cross country course, the Paradise girls captured the team title at the Azle Run for the Hills meet last weekend. Sophomore Allie McCormick and freshman Taryn Stoltz finished second and third overall to lead the way. Both the boys and girls teams will compete Friday in Arlington.
