BRIDGEPORT, Texas — Weather was the declared winner Friday night in Bridgeport’s game against Bowie.
The Bulls led 14-7 early before Bowie rallied to take a 21-14 halftime advantage. That’s when a cold front pushed through, causing a delay and ultimately leading to the game’s cancellation. The result is listed as a no-contest, leaving Bridgeport with a nine-game schedule for the 2025 season.
Non-district play continues Friday when the Bulls travel to River Oaks to face Castleberry. The Lions are 1-1 after a 43-0 shutout of South Hills. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
In volleyball, District 7-4A play begins Tuesday for the Sissies. Head coach Chris Rudiger’s team wrapped up non-district competition at 8-15, showing significant improvement from 2024. Bridgeport will open district play at Burkburnett before traveling Friday to face Lake Worth.
