DECATUR, Texas — The Eagles will finally get their home opener Friday night when they host TAPPS power Argyle Liberty Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Decatur remains 0-1 after last week’s trip to Denison was cut short in the first quarter by lightning. The game was never resumed and ruled a no-contest. Head coach Steve Huff’s squad now turns its attention to Liberty Christian, the reigning TAPPS Division I state champion. The Warriors are 0-2 after losses to Anna and Texas High.
In volleyball, the state’s No. 4-ranked Lady Eagles faced a tough District 7-4A opener Tuesday against Springtown, ranked No. 13. Decatur entered the match at 25-3 and is aiming to repeat as Class 4A state champions.
On the cross country course, Decatur will compete Friday at the Azle meet. At their home event last week, the Assault on Eagle Summit, the boys won the team title while the girls finished second.
