RIVER OAKS, Texas — Bridgeport put up one of its better offensive performances in recent seasons but fell 58-44 to Castleberry on Friday. The Bulls dropped to 0-3.

Castleberry broke the game open in the second quarter by outscoring Bridgeport 15-0. Quarterback Dylan Hunter threw three touchdown passes for the Bulls, but the defense struggled against the Lions’ running game.

Bridgeport returns home Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Venus. The Bulldogs are also 0-3.

In other Bridgeport sports, the Sissies volleyball team opened District 7-4A play with losses to Burkburnett and Lake Worth. They host defending Class 4A state champion Decatur on Tuesday. In cross country, the Bridgeport boys won the team title last week at Chico, while the girls placed fourth.
