CLEBURNE, Texas — Cleburne rallied twice and pulled away late Friday to defeat Waco High 37-27 at the Rock Pile in its homecoming game. The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-1 under head coach AJ Sheppard.
Cleburne overcame deficits of 13 and 11 points before taking the lead early in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Luke Stewart passed for 155 yards and rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown. Running back Zaidyn Husband added two rushing scores.
The Jackets remain at home Friday to face Port Arthur Memorial in a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Titans are 3-0.
In other Cleburne sports, Lady Jackets volleyball dropped its first two District 8-5A matches last week, falling to Burleson Centennial and Joshua. They host Burleson on Tuesday. Cleburne cross country competed Saturday at the Lucas Lovejoy meet in McKinney.
