Boyd fell 32-29 to Ponder in its District 4-3A opener Friday. Aiden Young scored on a 1-yard run and added a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to tie the game. The Jackets had a chance to drive for the win but turned the ball over on downs. Ponder then won on a 47-yard field goal in the final seconds. Boyd dropped to 3-2.
Maddox Parks led the Jackets with 179 rushing yards as the team finished with more than 300 on the ground. Boyd has a bye this week and returns Oct. 10.
Lady Jackets volleyball has won seven straight matches to take early control of the District 10-3A race. They defeated Paradise and Callisburg last week and are 23-9 overall, 5-0 in district. They host Pilot Point on Tuesday.
