The Mildred Eagles (4-1) concluded their non-district football schedule with a 63-26 loss to the Palestine Westwood Panthers (5-0) on Friday. The Eagles were hindered by turnovers against a Westwood team that has forced 15 this season. Westwood is the No. 4 ranked team in Class 3A Division I. Mildred quarterback Luke McKendree threw two touchdown passes. The Eagles have a bye this week before opening District 8-2A play on Oct. 9.
The Mildred Eagles volleyball team entered the week on a five-match winning streak, including a district-opening victory over Cross Roads. The team played Cayuga on Tuesday and travels to Frankston on Friday.
Mildred cross country teams compete Thursday at a district preview meet in Hubbard.
