Aledo — Top-ranked Aledo faces No. 4 Denton Ryan tonight at the Collins Complex in Denton. The Bearcats (5-0, 3-0 District 3-5A Division I) carry the nation’s longest active district winning streak, 130 straight victories dating back to Oct. 5, 2007. Along with that record, first place in District 3-5A is on the line. Ryan enters the matchup at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in district play.

The overall series is tied at three wins each. Ryan won the most recent meeting, a 31-21 victory last December in the state quarterfinals.

Aledo defeated Keller Fossil Ridge 56-14 last week on homecoming. Hank FM will carry the game broadcast, with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7.

The second-ranked Lady Bearcats volleyball team continues to dominate. Their district winning streak is now 29 after sweeping Saginaw Chisholm Trail on Tuesday. Aledo (31-2, 6-0 District 5-5A) opens the second half of district play Friday at Azle.
