Glen Rose – The Glen Rose Tigers broke through for their first win of the season last week and now aim for back-to-back victories Friday at Hillsboro. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Glen Rose is 1-5 overall after a 56-21 win over Godley in its District 4-4A opener. Hillsboro is 2-4 following a 56-8 win over Venus.
The Tigers rolled up 560 total yards against Godley, including 367 on the ground. Sophomore quarterback Judd Connally had a breakout game, rushing for 192 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 196 yards and four more scores. Receiver Luke Males caught two of them.
The Lady Tiger volleyball team, 25-14 overall and 5-2 in District 6-4A, earned a key five-set win over Graham on Tuesday and travels to Brownwood on Friday with a playoff spot on the line.
At the District 6-4A cross country meet Oct. 6 in Brock, junior twins Rebecca and Olivia Evertson and junior Dawson Miller each finished in the top 10 to qualify for the Region I meet.
