Glen Rose football remains on schedule to play Friday night, hosting Venus at Tiger Stadium for the Tigers’ Homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Despite many area teams moving games up to Thursday due to weather concerns, Glen Rose kept its Friday date to preserve the Homecoming tradition.

The Tigers enter the matchup 2-5 overall but an important 2-0 in District 4-4A play. Venus is still searching for its first win at 0-7 overall and 0-2 in district competition.

Glen Rose rolled past Hillsboro last week, 56-14, after jumping out to a 56-6 halftime lead. The Tigers’ offense neared 500 total yards for the second straight week. Sophomore quarterback Judd Connally threw for 265 yards and a touchdown while rushing for three more scores. Tyson Sullivan added 125 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the victory.

On the volleyball court, the Lady Tigers wrap up their regular season Friday at home against district champion Brock. Glen Rose will enter the postseason as the No. 3 seed from District 6-4A. The Lady Tigers, now 26-15 overall and 6-3 in district play, fell to Stephenville on Tuesday.

In cross country, at the Class 4A Region I meet earlier this week at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock, Rebecca and Olivia Evertson each finished in the top 45 on the girls side, while Dawson Miller placed near the middle of a field of 174 runners in the boys division.
