Cleburne Sports Update – 10/30/2025

A pair of Cleburne cross country runners are headed to the Class 5A state meet Friday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Junior Jessilyn Wurster qualified on the girls side, while sophomore Nico Flores advanced for the boys.

At the Class 5A Region I meet Monday at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock, Wurster placed eighth with a time of 19:20, and Flores finished 19th in 16:56. The Cleburne girls team also turned in a strong performance, placing 10th out of 24 teams. Results from the state meet will be available next week.

On the volleyball court, the Lady Jackets secured the fourth playoff berth from District 8-5A after sweeping Arlington Seguin in the regular-season finale last Friday. Cleburne finished 15-21 overall and 7-7 in district play. The Lady Jackets open the Class 5A Division I Region I playoffs Thursday at 6:30 p.m. against Paschal at the Wilkerson-Greines Athletic Complex.

In football, the Yellow Jackets will close out their first season under head coach AJ Sheppard at home Friday at the Rock Pile against Joshua. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Cleburne enters the game 2-7 overall and 0-5 in District 7-5A after falling 56-14 at Highland Park last Thursday. The Jackets have a bye next week.
