ALEDO, Texas — It’s been a standout week for Aledo athletics, with multiple programs showcasing dominance across the state stage and district competition. From the cross country trails of Round Rock to the volleyball court and gridiron, the Bearcats and Ladycats continue to prove why Aledo is synonymous with excellence.

The cross country teams capped off a historic season at the UIL State Championships in Round Rock. The Ladycats earned their third consecutive podium finish, placing third overall, powered by an incredible second-place individual finish from Molly Garrison (17:53.50). Behind her, Mykel Murry, Mayden Mitchell, Hadleigh Walton, and Madison Larsen packed tightly to secure the bronze position. The Bearcats weren’t far behind, finishing fourth overall, the best team finish in program history. Tyler Connelly led the way with a third-place time of 15:10.80, while teammates Thatcher Pettit, Reed Murray, and Jonah Clary followed closely to secure the team’s strong performance.

“What a way to finish the season,” head coach Mike Pinkerton said. “I couldn’t be prouder of the effort and dedication these athletes have shown.”

On the volleyball court, the Ladycats continued their postseason run with a clean sweep of Colleyville Heritage to claim the Bi-District Championship (25–23, 25–22, 25–21). Alyssa Todd led with 15 kills, 20 digs, and three blocks, while Kaelee Berkley added 14 kills. Sophie Frank and Kailey Hamilton combined for 37 assists. The Ladycats advance to the Area Round, where they’ll face Paschal on Tuesday night at the Arlington ISD Athletics Center.

On the gridiron, the Aledo freshmen delivered a Halloween showcase against Azle. The Freshman Black team improved to 9–0 with a 20–12 win behind touchdowns from Zackery Redmond, Tristan Fluitt, and Tristan Tyra. The Freshman Orange squad followed with a 34–7 victory to remain unbeaten at 8–0, highlighted by Jayden Yarbrough’stwo touchdowns and a pick-six from Peyton Davisson.

Meanwhile, the JV Orange squad rolled past Azle 35–15, thanks to Izzy Roberts’ 107 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and Kason Evans, who continued his streak of scoring in every game this season.

Rounding out the week, the Bearcat Regiment will perform in the UIL Area Contest on Saturday at Birdville Fine Arts and Athletics Complex, aiming for another State berth.

From the field to the stage, Aledo’s momentum shows no signs of slowing.
