It’s simple for the Boyd Yellow Jackets heading into Friday’s regular-season finale, win and you’re in. A victory on the road against No. 2-ranked Paradise would clinch a Class 3A Division I playoff berth. A loss would end the season.
The Jackets enter the matchup 5-4 overall and 2-3 in District 4-3A, while Paradise stands at 8-1 and 5-0. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Boyd is coming off a 36-7 loss to Peaster last Friday.
Running back Maddox Parks continues to power the Boyd offense, surpassing 1,100 rushing yards for the season. The Jackets have no margin for error. Fifth place Ponder (2-4) has a bye this week but would claim the final playoff spot if Boyd loses, having won the head-to-head meeting 32-29 on Sept. 26.
On the volleyball court, the 10th-ranked Lady Jackets have advanced to the area round of the Class 3A Division II Region II playoffs. Boyd, now 31-9 overall, rolled past Trinity Leadership of Cedar Hill in the first round and will next face a tough Leonard squad (34-7) that upset No. 3 Chisum.
