In one of the most dramatic finishes of the season, Graham edged Eagle Mountain 20-18 on Friday night, thanks to Colt Taylor’s touchdown run with just 16 seconds remaining.

The Steers took a 20-16 lead on the late score, but their two-point conversion attempt was intercepted and returned by the Knights for two points, cutting the lead to 20-18. Graham’s defense held firm in the final seconds to seal the victory in a game dominated by both defenses.

Quarterback Jace Gill led the way with 110 passing yards and 108 rushing yards, accounting for much of the Steers’ offense.

With the win, Graham finished the regular season 7-3 overall and 4-1 in District 3-4A, securing the district’s No. 2 seed for the Class 4A Division II Region I playoffs. The Steers will open postseason play Friday night against Godley, the No. 3 seed from District 4-4A. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Tim Buchanan Stadium in Aledo. Godley enters the matchup 5-5.

On the basketball court, the Lady Blues opened their season Tuesday night against Haskell. Graham will play its first three games at home, including an 11:15 a.m. matchup Saturday against Wichita Falls Legacy.
