Krum opened the Class 4A Division II playoffs in impressive fashion last Friday, rolling past Ferris 42-15 in the Region II bi-district round at Pennington Field. The win pushed the Bobcats to 10-0 on the season.
Quarterback Elijah Guerrero delivered another standout performance, throwing three touchdown passes and running for two more. Though the game was tight early, with Krum leading just 14-12 early in the second quarter, the Bobcats quickly took control. They extended the lead to 28-12 at halftime and were never seriously threatened the rest of the way.
The challenge intensifies this week. Krum will face No. 10 Athens in the area round after the Hornets outlasted Gilmer 57-49 in a high-scoring opener. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mesquite’s Hanby Stadium.
On the court, Lady Bobcat basketball wrapped up its first week of the season at 2-1 following a Friday win over Carrollton Creekview. Krum returns home Tuesday to host Richland.
Krum also celebrated several athletes on National Signing Day last Wednesday, including standout shortstop Luke Tucker, who signed with LSU.
