Closing out the 2025 Malakoff football season, it ended too soon for the Tigers. They fell to Pottsboro in the 3A Division I Region II area round, 49-21, finishing the season at 8-4.
But head coach Jamie Driskell found a way to guide his team through a challenging non-district schedule. Malakoff returned to the postseason for the 17th consecutive year and has won at least one playoff game in each of the past eight seasons, a track record that speaks for itself.
The big question in the offseason is finding a replacement for senior running back Jerrion Hall, who enjoyed a phenomenal career. Malakoff went on a six-game winning streak to secure a postseason berth. The program will also learn its new district in early February when the UIL announces its biannual realignment.
