After four challenging seasons, first-year head coach Shawn Sparks led what he and the Boyd faithful hope will be a program turnaround. The Jackets broke through, making the postseason for the first time in five years and finishing the campaign at 5-6.
That may not sound impressive on paper, but between 2021 and 2024, Boyd won just nine games total. The Jackets clinched the fourth playoff spot in District 3-4A after winning a tiebreaker with Ponder and Bowie. The season ended in the opening round of the 4A Division I playoffs with a loss to Tuscola Jim Ned on Nov. 14.
Now the offseason begins, with Sparks searching for a new starting quarterback and lead running back. Senior quarterback Cash Selby finished with a 1,200-yard passing season and 13 rushing touchdowns. Senior running back Maddox Parks rushed for 1,300 yards and nine scores.
Despite the challenges, this offseason comes with excitement and hope for Boyd football.
