On Monday, Cleburne lost to Alvarado at Cody Arena, 53-49, dropping its record to 4-5. The Jackets then head west to Abilene for the Key City Classic, which runs Thursday through Saturday. Abilene High and Abilene Cooper will host the tournament.
Cleburne is scheduled to open tournament play Thursday against Cooper. Before facing Alvarado, the Jackets lost their only game last week at Weatherford, 71-53.
The girls team is 7-5. They wrapped up the Allen Tournament on Nov. 22 with a 38-34 win over host Allen. This week, they played on the road Tuesday at Alvarado, then return home Friday to face Mansfield. Cleburne’s final tournament of the season won’t come until the Christmas break.
On the recruiting front, senior wide receiver Malachi Cunningham has received an offer from McMurry University in Abilene.
