Glen Rose officially closed the book on its 2025 football season, a campaign defined by early adversity, steady development and a promising foundation for the future. In what was always expected to be a rebuilding year, head coach Cliff Watkins guided a young roster through early bumps before watching it evolve into a district champion and playoff winner.
The Tigers opened the season 0-5 in non-district play, but those final three losses came by a combined 12 points, signaling progress. Once district action began, Glen Rose hit its stride, sweeping through District 4-4A to finish 5-0 and enter the postseason at 5-5.
In the bi-district round, the Tigers earned an impressive 48-34 win over Mineral Wells behind explosive offense. Their season came to an end the following week in a 39-27 area-round loss to Seminole, closing the year at 6-6.
The story of the season was the rise of sophomore quarterback Judd Connally, who developed into one of the region’s most dynamic dual-threat players. Connally threw for 2,300 yards and 32 touchdowns while rushing for nearly 1,200 yards and 16 more scores, an encouraging sign for Watkins as the program looks ahead.
Glen Rose will graduate senior running back Tyler Sullivan, who capped his career with 1,175 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Defensively, the Tigers showed flashes but will focus heavily on improvement during the offseason.
With Connally returning, a district title in hand and valuable experience gained across the roster, Glen Rose enters 2026 with momentum and plenty of compelling storylines to follow.
