Basketball season is in full swing for the Mildred Eagles as both the boys and girls programs enter a busy week highlighted by tournament play.
The Eagles hosted Rio Vista on Tuesday before heading to the Eustace tournament, which runs Thursday through Saturday. Mildred entered the week at 3-2, following a season-opening win against Cross Roads and a 2-2 showing at the Slocum tournament.
The Lady Eagles began the week at 4-5. They traveled to Cayuga on Tuesday and will join the boys at the Eustace tournament later in the week. Last week, the girls went 2-3, including a win over Cross Roads before finishing 1-3 at the Prairiland tournament.
In football news, head coach Jeff Callahan announced that two Eagles have made their college commitments for 2026. Linebacker Collin Slizoski has committed to Bethel College in Kansas, and defensive end Barron Tatum has pledged to East Texas Baptist in Marshall. Both athletes are expected to sign in February.
