The Bulls are riding a five-game winning streak after an impressive showing at the Poolville Tournament, pushing their record to 8–5 on the season. Along the way, Bridgeport has stacked up quality victories against Boyd, Seymour, Tolar, Chico and Trinity Christian, a stretch that signals real progress after finishing below .500 a year ago.
The recent surge has put the Bulls firmly in the conversation as a potential playoff contender out of District 7-4A. Consistency on both ends of the floor has been the key, with Bridgeport showing improved defensive discipline while finding reliable scoring options.
One of the biggest reasons for the early success has been junior forward Owen Jones. Jones has emerged as a steady presence in the paint, averaging nearly a double-double with 11.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. His ability to control the glass and score around the rim has given the Bulls a dependable foundation as the schedule tightens.
Bridgeport will get a strong test of where it stands this week. The Bulls return home Tuesday to face Stephenville before heading on the road Friday to take on Iowa Park. Both matchups should provide a solid gauge as the team continues to prepare for district play.
On the girls side, Sissies basketball wrapped up action at the Nocona Tournament over the weekend and currently sits at 9–6 overall. Bridgeport earned a win over St. Jo but dropped games to Paradise and Jacksboro during tournament play.
District 7-4A competition begins this week for the Sissies. They open district play Tuesday on the road at Castleberry before returning home Friday for a matchup against Decatur.
With both programs showing signs of growth, Bridgeport enters the heart of the season with confidence and an opportunity to make noise in district play.
