Mineral Wells football narrowly avoided moving up a classification after the UIL released its cutoff numbers last week. By the slimmest of margins, just two students, the Rams will remain in Class 4A Division II.

The school reported an average daily attendance of 894, one student below the Class 4A Division I ceiling of 895. Had the enrollment been 896 or higher, Mineral Wells football would have moved up a classification. The designation applies to football only, while other sports compete in separate districts.

Currently, Mineral Wells football is concluding its two-year run in District 3-4A alongside Brock, Graham, Eagle Mountain, Bridgeport and Burkburnett. Other sports programs participate in District 6-4A with Brock, Brownwood, Stephenville, Glen Rose and Graham.

The UIL is scheduled to announce new district alignments for all Mineral Wells athletics on Feb. 2, giving the school ample time to prepare for the 2026 cycle.
