Lady Tiger basketball begins holiday tournament action Monday at the Kaufman event, a two-day tournament concluding Tuesday. Malakoff opens play against Quitman. The Lady Tigers enter the event with a 6-8 record overall and 1-1 in District 15-3A.

Before the Christmas break, Malakoff split its two December district games, falling at Mineola, 57-31, before bouncing back to defeat Grand Saline, 44-41. District play resumes Friday with a road game at Quitman.

On the boys side, the Tigers are squeezing as many games as possible into their early-season schedule, which began Dec. 2. Malakoff is 3-6 overall and competing in the Van tournament Monday and Tuesday. Prior to the UIL-mandated holiday break, the Tigers split a pair of games the week of Dec. 15, defeating Blooming Grove, 82-66, but losing to Lone Oak, 61-51.

District 15-3A action for the Tigers also begins Friday at Quitman, following the Lady Tigers’ matchup.
