Eagle Mountain basketball is closing out tournament play this week as both the Knights and Lady Knights prepare to turn their full attention to District 7-4A competition.
The Knights are wrapping up action at their own Champions Tournament, which began Monday and concludes Wednesday. Eagle Mountain entered the tournament with an 8-7 record after building some late momentum before the Christmas break. The Knights had won four consecutive games prior to the holiday pause, though that streak came to an end Dec. 19 with a 53-42 loss to a strong Class 3A Paradise squad.
Despite the setback, Eagle Mountain showed progress heading into the break and will look to carry that forward when district play begins. The Knights open District 7-4A action Saturday at home against Bridgeport.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Knights are finishing play Wednesday at the Spring Creek BBQ Classic in Mansfield. The tournament opened Monday, with Eagle Mountain bringing an 11-7 overall record into the event.
The Lady Knights are already 1-1 in District 7-4A play. Before the holiday break, Eagle Mountain dropped its district opener to Burkburnett, 59-29, but responded with an emphatic 77-38 victory over Lake Worth to even its league mark.
With tournament play coming to a close, both Eagle Mountain teams now shift focus to district competition, beginning Saturday against Bridgeport as the second half of the season gets underway.
