Winter sports are fully underway in Corsicana, with both soccer programs opening their seasons while boys and girls basketball continue navigating District 15-5A competition.
The Corsicana boys soccer team begins its 2026 campaign this weekend at the North Forney Tournament, which runs Friday and Saturday. The Tigers are looking to make a return to the postseason after finishing 13-7-2 last year. Corsicana qualified for the playoffs in 2025 but saw its season end in the opening round with a loss to Waco High.
As part of its early non-district slate, Corsicana will travel to Mansfield Timberview on Tuesday, providing an early measuring stick as the Tigers work toward another playoff push.
On the girls side, Lady Tiger soccer is currently competing in the Waco La Vega Tournament, which began on New Year’s Day and runs through Saturday. Corsicana is aiming for a bounce-back season after narrowly missing the playoffs last year despite a solid 12-7 record. The Lady Tigers will open their home schedule Tuesday against China Spring.
Meanwhile, Corsicana basketball programs continue district action.
The Tigers wrapped up play in the Allen Tournament on Friday as they prepare for the heart of District 15-5A play. Corsicana opened league action Dec. 19 with a 65-50 loss to Midlothian Heritage. District competition resumes Tuesday when the Tigers take on Kaufman.
Lady Tigers basketball also spent time in tournament play this week, competing in the Kaufman Tournament. Corsicana enters the week with a 1-2 district record and, like the boys, continues league play Tuesday against Kaufman.
With soccer season beginning and basketball shifting deeper into district schedules, Corsicana athletics enters a busy stretch of competition. Both soccer programs will look to establish early momentum, while the basketball teams focus on climbing the district standings as league play continues into January.
