Bridgeport’s girls basketball team split its two district games last week as it continues its push for a playoff spot in District 7-4A.
The Sissies opened the week with a solid 52-37 home win over Springtown on Tuesday before dropping a close road contest Friday at Burkburnett, 58-55. With the split, Bridgeport sits at 16-11 overall and 3-2 in district play, currently holding fourth place as the race for postseason positioning intensifies.
Another key week awaits the Sissies. They will play host to Lake Worth on Tuesday before closing out the first half of district play Saturday on the road at Krum.
The Bulls also split their two games last week. Bridgeport earned a 51-31 home victory over Decatur on Tuesday but struggled Friday on the road against No. 8 Burkburnett, falling 87-52. The Bulls enter the week at 11-12 overall and 1-2 in District 7-4A action.
Despite the setback, Bridgeport continues to get strong production from its backcourt, with one sophomore guard averaging 21 points per game in what has been an all-district caliber season.
The Bulls will mirror the Sissies’ schedule this week, hosting Lake Worth on Tuesday before traveling to face district leader and seventh-ranked Krum on Saturday.
On the soccer pitch, Bridgeport boys soccer improved to 6-1 on the season with a 3-1 win Friday at Saginaw Boswell. The Sissies competed in the Wichita Falls tournament over the weekend.
