Lady Jackets basketball continued its strong run last week, earning two distinctions: sole possession of first place in District 8-5A and a No. 24 ranking in the Class 5A state girls poll. Cleburne moved to 16-8 overall and 5-0 in league play following a big road win at then-No. 8 Joshua and a dominating performance against Burleson. This week, the Lady Jackets traveled to Mansfield Timberview Tuesday and host Everman Friday.
The boys basketball team is back to .500 at 11-11 overall and 2-1 in district play. Wins over Joshua and Burleson last week helped the Jackets climb in the standings. The boys share the same schedule with the girls this week.
In soccer, the Lady Jackets went 3-0 in the Aledo tournament and now move into the Crowley tournament starting Thursday. Boys soccer participates in the GCISD Cup in Grapevine starting Thursday; the team enters the tournament at 1-2-3.
