Lady Jackets basketball continues to lead District 8-5A, holding sole possession of first place at 7-0 and earning a No. 24 state ranking in the Class 5A poll. Last week, Cleburne easily handled the lower half of the district, defeating Mansfield Timberview 65-23 on Tuesday and topping Everman 46-26 on Friday. The second half of the district season begins Tuesday with a home game against Mansfield Summit, currently 16-8 and 6-1 in district play, followed by a Friday matchup at Arlington Seguin.
The Jackets boys basketball team struggled last week, dropping two games. They fell to No. 8 Timberview 64-15 and then lost to Everman 65-54, bringing their record to 11-13 overall and 2-3 in district play. The boys follow the same schedule as the Lady Jackets this week, hosting Summit Tuesday and traveling to Seguin Friday.
In soccer, the Lady Jackets remain unbeaten at 6-0 after competing in the Crowley Tournament over the weekend. The boys are 1-4-4 following tournament action. Both teams begin district play this week.
