Lady Tigers basketball finished the first half of the District 15-3A season on a high note, picking up two decisive wins last week. On Tuesday, Malakoff crushed Winona 62-9, then followed up with a 61-47 victory over Eustace on Friday. The Lady Tigers are now 12-10 overall and 4-2 in district play, placing them in a three-way tie for second with Quitman and Edgewood.

The second half of the district schedule begins Tuesday with a home game against district leader and No. 17 Mineola, followed by a Friday matchup at Grand Saline.

The boys team had a mixed week, standing at 5-11 overall and 2-2 in district play. They fell to Winona 53-38 on Tuesday but bounced back with a 51-22 win over Eustace on Friday. The Tigers will face the same opponents as the girls this week, hosting Mineola and then traveling to Grand Saline.
