Rams basketball opened the chase for the District 6-4A playoffs Friday with a home loss to Glen Rose, 66-52. The game was tight through three quarters, with Mineral Wells trailing just 40-38 entering the fourth. However, Glen Rose pulled away in the final period, outscoring the Rams 26-14. Mineral Wells now stands at 12-12 on the season. The Rams continue district play Tuesday at Stephenville and return home Friday to face Graham.

The Lady Rams had a tough week, falling to No. 3 Brock 52-10 last Tuesday before a 46-24 loss at home to Glen Rose on Friday. Mineral Wells is 14-13 overall and 0-3 in district play. They will visit Stephenville Tuesday and host Graham Friday to close the first half of the district schedule.

In soccer, the boys enjoyed a strong weekend at the Burkburnett tournament, winning all three matchups to improve to 6-1. They host Springtown Tuesday and travel to Western Hills Friday. The Lady Rams played in the Chisholm Trail tournament in Saginaw, finishing 2-4-1. They share a doubleheader with the boys against Springtown Tuesday and then host Eagle Mountain Friday.
