Lady Pirates basketball endured a challenging week last week, falling from a share of the District 5-5A lead into a three-way tie for second. Granbury lost to district leader Aledo, 52-15, on Tuesday and then dropped a close contest to Saginaw Chisholm Trail, 50-46, on Friday. The team is now 15-13 overall and 4-2 in district play, concluding the first half of the 5-5A season. Lady Pirates travel Tuesday to Keller Fossil Ridge and Friday to Saginaw.
The Granbury boys basketball team continues to search for its first district win. They lost to Aledo, 70-39, and Saginaw Chisholm Trail, 48-37, last week. The boys follow the same schedule as the girls this week.
In soccer, Lady Pirates remain strong at 7-3 overall after going 3-0 in the Crowley tournament this past weekend, not allowing a single goal. Their only match this week is Tuesday at Paschal. The boys team struggled in the same tournament, going 0-3, but beat Burleson 2-0 last Tuesday. They are now 4-5 and host NCTA Tuesday for their only match this week.
