Aledo’s basketball teams benefited from the District 5-5A schedule this week, drawing byes as winter weather is expected to move into the area Friday night. Both teams were able to complete district action earlier in the week.
On Tuesday, the 15th-ranked Lady Bearcats cruised past Brewer of White Settlement, 79-20. Aledo improved to 19-7 overall and remained unbeaten in district play at 7-0, maintaining a two-game lead over Granbury atop the 5-5A standings. On the boys side, the Bearcats reached the 20-win milestone with a 61-50 victory over Brewer. Aledo is now 20-6 overall and continues to set the pace in district play at 6-0, wrapping up the first half of the 5-5A season.
Soccer schedules were adjusted as well, with both matches moved to Thursday. The Lady Bearcats faced Arlington Heights and entered the week at 3-5 following play in the Georgetown tournament last weekend. The boys moved to 6-3-1 after a dominant 6-0 win over Mansfield Summit on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to four matches.
