Corsicana athletics adjusted schedules ahead of the winter weather forecast, moving Friday’s district boys and girls basketball and soccer games to Thursday. With a wintry mix expected Friday evening, all four teams shifted their matchups against Terrell up one day.
On the soccer pitch, both Tiger teams hosted Terrell. Lady Tiger soccer entered the match looking to bounce back after a narrow 2-1 loss at Crandall on Tuesday in its District 15-5A opener. Corsicana stands at 1-5-1 on the season. The boys opened district play in strong fashion earlier in the week, posting a 3-0 road win at Crandall. Chris Velasquez scored twice, while Giancarlo Zuniga added two assists. Tiger soccer is now 6-3-1.
The basketball teams traveled to Terrell on Thursday. Lady Tiger basketball dropped a district game to Crandall on Tuesday, 53-26, and began the week at 8-14 overall and 3-5 in 15-5A. Corsicana had earned a 59-41 road win at Ennis last Friday. Tiger basketball also fell to Crandall on Tuesday and suffered a tough 41-39 loss at Ennis last week, leaving the Tigers at 4-14 overall and 1-4 in district play.
