Weatherford athletics moved its basketball and soccer contests from Friday to Thursday to avoid weekend winter weather.

The Lady Roos soccer team, ranked 18th in the state Class 6A poll, opened District 3-6A play with a 2-0 road victory at Crowley. Earlier in the week, they dominated Brewer, 7-1. Weatherford is now 9-0-1. Their only match this week is Tuesday at home against Mansfield Legacy.

The Roos boys soccer team played Crowley to a 1-1 home draw after losing 4-0 to Brewer last Tuesday. Weatherford is 2-4-3 and travels to Legacy Tuesday.

In basketball, the Roos locked down their first District 3-6A win last Tuesday at Saginaw Boswell, 58-51, but fell to Mansfield 95-88 on Thursday. Weatherford is 17-11 overall and 1-5 in district play. The Roos host Crowley Tuesday and travel to Legacy on Friday.

The Lady Roos basketball team is 18-11 overall and 0-6 in 3-6A, officially out of playoff contention.
