Granbury athletics moved its basketball contests from Friday to Thursday this past weekend to avoid winter weather. Soccer contests were not affected.

The Lady Pirates girls basketball team is now 16-14 overall and 5-3 in District 5-5A following a split on the road last week. Granbury topped Keller Fossil Ridge, 49-43, but fell to Saginaw, 46-33. The loss to Saginaw leaves the Lady Pirates a half-game behind both Saginaw and Saginaw Chisholm Trail. Granbury enjoys a district bye Tuesday and hosts Azle Friday.

Granbury boys basketball is 4-22 overall and 0-6 in district play. The Pirates dropped games last week to Fossil Ridge and Saginaw. Their schedule this week mirrors the girls’ with a Tuesday bye and a Friday home matchup against Azle.

In soccer, the Lady Pirates are 7-4 and open District 5-5A play Tuesday at Keller Fossil Ridge. Their most recent match was a 1-0 loss to Paschal, ending a three-match winning streak. Granbury boys soccer is 4-6 overall and opens district play at home against Fossil Ridge, looking to halt a four-match losing streak.
