Winter weather forced Mildred athletics to adjust the basketball schedule this week. Both boys and girls games originally set for Tuesday against Frost were moved to Wednesday, conditions permitting, due to school district closures. Friday’s contests at Wortham are expected to proceed as scheduled.
The Eagles enter the second half of District 18-2A play at 17-3 overall and 6-0 in league action, riding an eight-game winning streak. Last week, Mildred defeated second-place Kerens 48-39, then won at Dawson 48-31 — a game moved from Friday to Thursday to avoid the weather. The Eagles have an average margin of victory of 19 points in district play.
The Lady Eagles began the week at 14-11 overall and 6-2 in 18-2A. They split a pair of tight games last week, beating Kerens 46-45 in overtime and falling at Dawson 29-26. Mildred currently holds the third playoff seed in the district.
