Winter weather forced Aledo athletics to adjust its basketball schedule this week. Instead of both the boys and girls teams playing host to Saginaw Chisholm Trail on Tuesday, those games were moved to Thursday, conditions permitting. School district closures were the reason for the change.
The No. 15 Lady Cats enter the week at 19-7 overall and remain in sole possession of first place in District 5-5A at 7-0. Aledo had its district bye last Friday, which was not impacted by the weather. The Lady Cats are scheduled to play Keller Fossil Ridge on Friday.
Bearcats basketball is also pacing District 5-5A. Aledo is 20-6 overall and 6-0 in district play. After Thursday’s matchup with Chisholm Trail, the Bearcats travel to Keller Fossil Ridge on Friday.
Soccer schedules were adjusted as well. District 5-5A openers against Brewer were moved from Tuesday to Thursday. The Lady Cats are 3-6 on the season after dropping a 3-1 decision to Arlington Heights last week. The boys enter district play at 7-3-1 and are coming off a 2-0 victory over Trimble Tech.
Looking ahead, Aledo will learn its Class 6A district alignment for the next two years on Monday, when the UIL announces its realignment. The Bearcats are moving up from Class 5A.
