Boyd athletics knows its new district destination for the next two years. This past Monday, the UIL released its biannual realignment. Boyd remaining at the Class 3A Division I level. Keep in mind there are separate districts for football and the other sports. For football, the Jackets are in 4-3A in Region I. That’s a five-team district made up of Bowie, Paradise, Peaster and Vernon. Shawn Sparks’ football
program will play a six-game non-district schedule against Tolar, Jacksboro, Henrietta, Pilot Point, Mineral Wells and Venus.
As for the other sports, it’s familiar territory. They are In District 8-3A in Region I, not Region II where they have been the past two years. This is a seven-team district made up of Callisburg, S&S Consolidated, Paradise, Pilot Point, Valley View and Whitesboro.

Lady Jackets basketball sits at 12-17 overall and 4-5 in District 10-3A following a dominant 67-22 win over Pilot Point last week. Boyd also benefited from its district bye, as winter weather caused minimal disruption to the schedule.

The Lady Jackets face a pivotal week with a home game against Whitesboro on Tuesday before traveling to Valley View on Friday. Those matchups carry significant playoff implications, as Boyd, Whitesboro and Valley View remain locked in a tight race for postseason positioning.

On the boys side, the Jackets are 15-14 overall but 2-5 in district play after a tough 64-59 loss to Pilot Point. The setback dealt a blow to Boyd’s playoff hopes.

The boys follow the same schedule as the girls with games against Whitesboro and Valley View.
