Malakoff athletics has learned its district assignments for the next two seasons following the University Interscholastic League’s biannual realignment released Monday.

The Tigers will remain at the Class 3A Division I level, with separate districts assigned for football and the other sports.

For football, Malakoff stays in District 7-3A in Region II, a six-team district made up of Commerce, Eustace, Mineola, Mount Vernon, Rains and Winnsboro. There is no change from the past two seasons, meaning head coach Jamie Driskell’s program will once again play a five-game non-district schedule.

For the remaining sports, Malakoff will compete in District 15-3A in Region II. That district features seven teams, with Tiger athletics joining Commerce, Edgewood, Eustace, Grand Saline, Lone Oak, Rains and Scurry-Rosser. Several of those matchups are familiar for Malakoff across multiple sports.

The new alignment cycle begins later this year with the start of the volleyball season in August.
