The District 3-6A girls soccer title race is shaping up as a two-team battle between Mansfield Lake Ridge and No. 14 Weatherford.
Lake Ridge currently sits atop the district standings, with Weatherford in second place, trailing by 1½ games. The Lady Roos are 12-1-2 overall and 4-1-1 in district play. Over the past week and a half, Weatherford dropped a key match to Lake Ridge, bounced back with a win over Saginaw Boswell and then battled third-place Mansfield to a scoreless draw.
Weatherford will look to keep pace in the title chase when it plays host to Crowley on Tuesday before traveling to Mansfield Legacy on Friday.
On the boys side, Weatherford soccer is 3-8-3 overall and 1-4-1 in District 3-6A. With the district season entering its final stretch, the Roos need to make a move if they hope to climb into the playoff picture. Weatherford currently sits in sixth place and faces a road match at Crowley on Tuesday, followed by a home contest against Legacy on Friday.
Basketball seasons are wrapping up for Weatherford as well. The Roos finish their season Tuesday on the road at Mansfield. Weatherford is 19-14 overall and 3-8 in district play after closing its home schedule with an 82-56 win over Boswell on Friday.
The Lady Roos concluded their season at 20-14 overall and 2-10 in District 3-6A. They ended the year on a high note with a 57-53 victory over Lake Ridge in the finale.
