Aledo’s soccer teams are in full stride as the postseason approaches, each having clinched a playoff berth and now chasing District 5-5A titles.
The Lady Cats are 10-6-2 overall and undefeated in district play at 7-0-2. They beat Keller Fossil Ridge 3-1 on Tuesday and can move closer to a district crown Friday with a win at Saginaw High School. Their impressive winning streak stands at 13 games, although their run of 11 consecutive shutouts ended last week against Saginaw Chisholm Trail. After Tuesday’s 3-0 victory over Fossil Ridge, the Lady Cats are 16-3-1 overall and 9-0 in 5-5A play.
Aledo softball opened district play with a 5-0 win over Brewer High School on Tuesday. The team, adjusting to several new faces from last year’s state semifinalist squad, continues to navigate a tough non-district schedule, including a matchup Friday at Rockwall-Heath High School.
Aledo baseball is off to a dominant 11-1 start, competing this weekend in the Drew Medford Classic. The defending Class 5A Division I state champions are currently ranked No. 5 in the state Class 5A coaches poll.
