No. 1 Decatur High School Lady Eagles completed their quest for back-to-back state championships with a dramatic overtime victory over Waco La Vega High School Lady Pirates in the Class 4A Division I girls basketball state final.
Decatur secured the title with a 58-54 win after overtime. The Lady Eagles forced the extra period when Bralyn Peck hit a game-tying basket with five seconds remaining in regulation. Decatur then outscored La Vega 6-2 in overtime to seal the championship.
The Lady Eagles entered the fourth quarter trailing by six points before mounting the comeback in what was a rematch of the 2025 state final. The victory gives Decatur its second state title in school history and completes another dominant season for the program.
Peck, an Oklahoma State Cowboys women’s basketball signee, delivered a standout performance in her final high school game. She scored 33 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and was named the game’s Most Outstanding Player.
Sophomore point guard Style Brazile added eight points, six assists and two steals.
La Vega struggled at the free-throw line, converting just 16 of 30 attempts.
During Decatur’s historic two-year championship run, only two games were decided by single digits, including Saturday’s final. The Lady Eagles finished the season on a 25-game winning streak and closed the year with a 37-4 record.
