The Malakoff High School baseball team is on a bye this week, with no games scheduled until Saturday, when the Tigers host Commerce in a non-district matchup.
Malakoff enters the week with a 9-4-3 overall record and is 1-1 in District 15-3A play after splitting its opening district series against Quitman. The Tigers won at Quitman 15-3 last Tuesday but fell at home Friday, 9-4. Earlier in the season, Malakoff recorded three ties, including one against Scurry-Rosser, following the Athens Tournament.
The Lady Tiger softball team holds a 14-8 record and is 3-1 in District 15-3A. Last week, the Lady Tigers split a pair of games, defeating Quitman 19-3 but losing to Mineola 9-4, ending a brief three-game winning streak. Malakoff will enjoy its first of two district byes Tuesday before returning to action Friday at Grand Saline.
The boys and girls track teams are also off this week for spring break. Both squads competed at Kerens last Thursday.
